Week 11 Day 1

 

poignant /-njənt/

가슴 아픈[저미는] = moving

Longman    making you feel sad or full of pity poignant reminder/image/moment etc

phlegmatic

corroborate

Longman    to provide information that supports or helps to prove someone else’s statement, idea etc = back up

comprehensive

zealously

열심히, 열광적으로

zealous    격식 열성적인

vigil

muzzle

lax

rash

a. 경솔한, 성급한 = impulsive, reckless

Longman    if you are rash, you do things too quickly, without thinking carefully about whether they are sensible or not

Don’t go making any rash decisions about your future!

conjecture

추측(한 내용) = guess / 격식 추측하다

Longman    

1 when you form ideas or opinions without having very much information to base them on

2 an idea or opinion formed by guessing = guess, hypothesis

My results show that this conjecture was, in fact, correct.

The truth of his conjecture was confirmed by the newspaper report.

obviate

격식 (문제·필요성을) 제거[배제]하다 = preclude
